Mister Magic expired this week. The cause of his death is reported to be a heart attack. Magic was an early proponent of Hip-Hop. He brought the music to people through radio (Brooklyn) and then his touring throughout the country.
Last night, I listened to a late night WMBR show dedicated to his memory (and his music.) The DJ reminded us that when MTV first showed up on cable, that channel featured music videos all day and all night, including Hip-Hop videos. These videos look pretty simple compared to today's productions, but they had the spirit locked in and on display, too.
